IEA upgrades electric car growth forecast

The number of new electric cars will grow 30 percent annually over the next five years and will reach 300 million in 2040, according a new IEA report.

In the newly published World Energy Outlook 2018, the International Energy Agency (IEA) has made a large upgrade to its growth forecast for new electric cars.

The IEA expected two years back that the number of new electric cars would grow to 150 million in 2040, reports Norwegian media E24.no. That figure was upgraded last year to 280 million electric cars in the same year. The forecast is now for 300 million units.
